Sneak Peeks: Monsterverse Comics May 2, 2012

The Fellowship has obtained sneak peeks for comics from Monsterverse Comics that will come out May 2...

Bela Lugosi's Tales From The Grave #2
(W/A) Various

Seven-time Academy Award-winning make-up legend Rick Baker creates his first comic book cover and only for Monsterverse's second issue of Bela Lugosi's Tales From The Grave. Baker has been responsible for cinema history with work like that with Dick Smith when he was only 18 for The Exorcist. He won the first Academy Award for Make-up as a category with American Werewolf In London. He created the make-up designs for Michael Jackson's Thriller, the most successful music video in history. He's created apes for Gorillas In The Mist, and turned Jack Nicholson into a werewolf in Wolf. And for Monsterverse's money he won another Oscar for turning Martin Landau into Bela Lugosi (who also won an Oscar for the role!). The list of Oscars goes on and on right up to the recent The Wolfman. Now, he's bringing Hollywood to modern horror comics!

A strange, pop-eyed sailor is released from a sunken ship after over 70 years; all who look into the eye have their souls sucked out! A masked Mexican wrestler battles a chupacabra to rescue a lady in distress. Travelers from Earth land on a planet inhabited by teenage vampires. A film historian sets out to find a lost horror film and discovers the secret of why it has never been seen by the public. Dr. Vornoff  builds a mechanical man to help him conquer the world. And huge bats thought to be destroyed have apparently returned to wreak havoc on a small town once again!

Another Hulk Movie On The Horizon?

The internet has been buzzing today with the possibility of Marvel doing another Hulk movie. The source seems to be coming from a Forbes article in which Marvel’s President of Consumer Products Paul Gitter talks about the response the character (and actor Mark Ruffalo) has been receiving in THE AVENGERS movie.

Glitter goes on to say that if it continues, the character will have a solo movie in 2015. However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that no Hulk movie is coming. Have things changed? We do know that the green behemoth will be coming back to the TV at some point with Guillermo del Toro as executive-producer.

Stay Tuned...

Wild Children In June

Official Press Release

A DIFFERENT KIND OF EDUCATION
WILD CHILDREN plumbs the depths of rebellion in July

Guns. Acid. Cameras. School. Wild Children.

Written by Ales Kot (Batman) with art by Riley Rossmo (Cowboy Ninja Viking, Dark Wolverine, Debris), WILD CHILDREN, a new graphic novella from Image Comics in July, explores an explosive high school hostage situation that threatens to unfold its own reality like cheap origami.

The subject of school shootings behind the controversial Hellblazer: Shoot by Warren Ellis and Phil Jimenez merges with Grant Morrison's and Philip Bond's themes of teenage revolt in Kill Your Boyfriend, delivering a unique story of magic, passion and disinformation.

"Comics have tremendous transformative potential, and on top of that, they're pure fun when done well," said writer Kot. "This comic is the equivalent of a six-track pop EP — and if we've done our jobs well, Wild Children will be the weird pop EP you'll find yourself coming back to again and again."

Grimm Fairy Tales The Animated Series Reaches Funding Goal

On April 29, Zenescope reached the goal of $175,000 to fund its Grimm Fairy Tales the Animated Series project. The project closes 6pm EST May 1 and any additional funds raised will go to creating new episodes.

“Using Kickstarter for this project allows us as a company to bring our vision to life.” said Zenescope marketing manager Stephen Haberman. “It gives Joe and Ralph the ability to be directly involved in bringing their creation to life. Jon is a brilliant director and now we’re able to make the series our fans want to see. It’s moving to see just how passionate they are and we’re lucky to have them.”

People can still pre-order a digital copy for as little as $15 on the Kickstarter page: http://kck.st/wjSM8D.

First Look: HAVOC BRIGADE

The Fellowship has received a first look at Studio 407's HAVOC BRIGADE which comes out in July. HAVOC BRIGADE is an all-new, fully colored, softcover graphic novel written by Neal Marshall Stevens (13 Ghosts) and illustrated by John Bosco.

After ending the war and bringing a new era of peace to the world the Havoc Brigade is forced into retirement. But when the former commander steals the military's latest Havoc-class prototype and murders the only ones that can stop him, the flames of war begin to rise again.

Sergeant Barnes the only other surviving member of the Havoc Brigade must now go toe-to-toe with his mentor and stop him from leading terrorists in igniting another world war!

“We here are Studio 407 are extremely excited to to bring this suspenseful sci-fi epic to fans of good war stories and great comics!” Says PR & Marketing Manager Ivan Salazar. “It paints a terrifying world where war has dominated for decades and now in a time of fragile peace a new threat arises. With a clear correlations to today's modern conflicts, HAVOC BRIGADE brings outstanding story-telling wrapped in a haunting vision of the future of war.”

“Neal Marshal Stevens and John Bosco are a knock-out team-up that really bring HAVOC BRIGADE to life.” Says Managing Director Alex Leung. “Bosco infuses his panels with so much movement that it propels Stevens' suspenseful story of modern war at a blinding pace. Once you start reading you'll want to read it all.”

The Dark Judges Return...

Official Press Release

Fear. Fire. Mortis. The Dark Judges have returned to 2000 AD!

The countdown which has been running at www.2000adonline.com came to an end earlier today and the site has closed, replaced with a single image bearing the legend ‘THEY ARE HERE’.

Readers have been tantalised over the past month by a series of teaser images published through Comic Book Resources (below), which began as oblique symbols before slowly revealing the impending return of the terrible threesome. They must now wait to see what will be unveiled...

As part of the on-going Day of Chaos mega-epic, Judge Dredd co-creator John Wagner has unleashed Judge Fear, Judge Fire, and Judge Mortis onto a Mega-City One already reeling from the Chaos Bug epidemic, mass civil revolt, and terrorist attacks. In a storyline described by SFX as “both gripping and very compelling. It’s like watching news of a reallife crisis unfolding on TV”, the multi-faceted plotline offers current, lapsed, and new readers a rollercoaster of thrills.

Warped parodies of the Judges of Mega-City One, the Dark Judges are undead superfiends from a dimension where all life has been declared a crime. Originally led by Judge Death, who has since been sucked into Purgatory by the souls of his victims, the Dark Judges were created by John Wagner and Brian Bolland.

With a stunning cover by Henry Flint, this has been the most keenly anticipated 2000 AD event in years.

Prog 1781 goes on sale on Wednesday, priced at £2.35 in the UK.
