New Science Action Thriller THINK TANK From Minotaur Press, Image Comics

Image Comics and Minotaur Press (an imprint of Top Cow Productions) announced a new book from  Matt Hawkins (LADY PENDRAGON, PILOT SEASON: THE TEST) and Rahsan Ekedal (ECHOES, Solomon Kane) titled THINK TANK.

"Dr. Loren's life and situation are my commentary on American so-called exceptionalism in a modern day setting with real science and weapons that you've never heard of that do actually exist," said writer Matt Hawkins. "The drones you see on TV flying in Afghanistan are decades-old technology. We marvel at these but the stuff coming out of DARPA and actual think tanks today rivals some of the most creative stuff you see in the best science fiction."

Child prodigy, inventor, genius, slacker… mass murderer. These are all ways to describe the brilliant Dr. David Loren. When a military think tank’s smartest scientist decides he can no longer stomach creating weapons of destruction, will he be able to think his way out of his dilemma or find himself subject to the machinations of smaller men?

THINK TANK #1 hits stores Wednesday, August 1st, 2012

Disney Nabs THE STUFF OF LEGEND?

Deadline is reporting that Disney has made a "pre-emptive pitch deal" for Th3rd World Studios' THE STUFF OF LEGEND. The article states that the script is written by Shawn Christensen and Pete Candeland would direct. It would be a live action film set in a CGI world.

The series of tales, written by Mike Raicht & Brian Smith and illustrated by Charles Paul Wilson III, takes place in 1944 and revolves around a boy who is kidnapped by the Boogey Man who lives in his closet. It's up to a small group of his toys (a teddy bear, duck, soldier, jack in the box, indian princess, a ballerina, and a pig) and his puppy to go in and save him. Once inside, the closet turns into another world and the toys become real.

These mini-series have been a great read and would make a great franchise for ANY studio. As the report says, it's a mixture of TOY STORY and THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. I hope this happens!

Tsuro Of The Seas Kickstarter Program Update

The Fellowship received an update on the Tsuro Of The Seas Kickstarter Campaign that we reported on recently...

Hooray! We are 200% funded and we have 15 days to go… It sounds like a good time for some stretch goals. But first, I want to thank you all for the tremendous amount of support. Your efforts in spreading the word about Tsuro of the Seas and this Kickstarter campaign continues to build excitement in the world of gaming! There is no doubt, you are a passionate bunch as one can see by the results of the survey. There is still time to participate! Go to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/781219801/tsuro-of-the-seas-a-game-of-treacherous-waters.

Currently we have 415 backers… That's incredible! What’s more incredible, is 64% of you replied to the survey… And I'm telling you it was a very close race! But in the end the Uzushio (Whrilpool) won out over the Taihou (Cannon) by 6 votes; that's crazy!

DC Announces (Sort Of) The Four Cancelled Titles

DC's The Source has been posting the solicits for September - "0 month" (which we'll have posted soon). The blog noted the other three books that will be cancelled to make room for the new titles (which was covered in this report) and to maintain the number of books at 52. They are:

CAPTAIN ATOM
RESURRECTION MAN
VOODOO

The fourth title: JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL, was cancelled in August with issue #12 and Annual #1.

My take
Still surprised by JLI, but there's rumblings of a new Justice League title coming. The other titles I'm not too shocked about it. I did notice we have our first Wildstorm title cancellation.

PROPHECY #1 Sold Out, A Second (And Possible Third) Printing On The Way

Dynamite Entertainment has announced the first printing of PROPHECY #1 has sold out and the second printing is close to it as well. The seven issue company cross-over is written by Ron Marz featuring art by Walter Geovani and covers by Paul Renaud.

The Mayan doomsday prophecy is coming to pass, and the end of the world makes for strange allies. Vampirella, Red Sonja, Kulan Gath, Dracula, Eva, Herbert West The Reanimator, Alan Quatermain, Athena, Dorian Gray, Purgatory, Pantha and many more choose sides and clash in battles that will decide the fate of the Earth and all of mankind. Will the forces of good be able to stop the end of days? Or will an army of darkness rise?

"Obviously it's great news that Prophecy #1 sold out," says Prophecy writer Ron Marz. "It's satisfying to put together a series that embraces the fun of comics, and then have readers respond to that series. But the better news is that Dynamite is going back for a second printing. We want to have copies in front of as many people as possible!"

"It is with great pride that Prophecy is selling out so quickly," adds Dynamite Entertainment President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. "For issue #1 to be sold out from Diamond within 24 hours of release is a testament to the hard work that Ron (Marz), Walter (Geovanni) and everyone at Dynamite put into the launch. Readers have been asking for publishers to create self-contained events, and it is clear that Dynamite has made the right move by listening to our fan-base with our single focused ‘Prophecy' series!"

Here's the trailer for the book if you haven't seen it before...

First Look: DRACULA WORLD ORDER

The Fellowship has obtained a first look at DRACULA WORLD ORDER. The book is written by Ian Brill with art by Tonci Zonjic (WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?), Rahsan Ekedal (ECHOES, SOLOMN KANE), Declan Shalvey (THUNDERBOLTS, 28 DAYS LATER), and Gabriel Hardman (HULK, BETRAYAL OF THE PLANET OF THE APES).

DRACULA WORLD ORDER tells the story of how the greatest villain of all, Count Dracula, takes advantage of a world on the brink of economic collapse. In a world where the top 1% of the population are vampires, the rest of the human race are prisoners…or the 1%’s next meal. Dracula’s own son Alexandru leads the 99% in rebellion against the Vampire elite – in a battle that will leave you breathless.
